When the lanterns light up the streets, and the rice dumplings gently roll in the pot, togetherness arrives at its softest and most tender close.

A farewell

Actually, the Lantern Festival marks the true close of the Chinese New Year. From New Year’s Eve vigil, to greetings on the first day, to lanterns glowing on the fifteenth night, it completes the ritual of the season.More than celebration, it is a transition—from reunion to renewed ambition, from festivity to the steady work of the year ahead.

A hope

Tangyuan, the signature delicacy of the Lantern Festival, has a round shape that symbolizes completeness, harmony, and togetherness in Chinese culture.Yet a single bowl of tangyuan holds more than sweetness, it carries the warmth of a family gathered around the table. In southern China, they are called tangyuan; in the north, they are known as yuanxiao. Different in preparation, yet sharing the same wish—for reunion, for peace, and for a smooth year ahead.

A longing

Though the lanterns may fade, their light remains.Though reunion is brief, the heart feels steadier.May the brightness of this night become the tone of the year ahead.May this sense of completeness stay with us through every season.Happy Lantern Festival!
