"About the Festival"
The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of China’s four major traditional festivals. It originated from ancient customs of worshipping the moon and gradually evolved into a celebration of harvest and family
reunion.
?Traditional customs include:
Moon gazing ?: Looking up at the bright moon to express longing and send blessings.
Eating mooncakes ?: Symbolizing reunion and completeness.
Enjoying osmanthus flowers and drinking osmanthus wine ?: Adding to the festive atmosphere.
Playing with lanterns ?: Especially popular in southern China, where lanterns light up the night in a lively celebration.
